Women are coming forward speaking up about past sexual abuse.

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.  (Isa_3:12)

A snow ball has been rolling that continues to get larger. The #MeToo movement has encouraged women of all ages to speak up about past sexual abuses. From what I have read so far in the news, the #MeToo movement seems to be mostly pagan women, not believing women, although more and more Christian women are also speaking up, too.

Larry Nasser molested Olympic gymnasts

I am a gymnastics coach. Larry Nassar was a trusted Olympic physician who took advantage of underage women who, naively believed that his finger b-nging them was actually an “interior digital massage”. The pervert is a sexual predator who deserves to be locked up. Those young girls who are now adult women are part of the #MeToo movement and are a mixture of Christian women and feminists. Nor would I say that these gymnasts hate men, for several of them are married and have children.   But I am concerned that the #MeToo movement is a double edged sword that, on one side, addresses perverts who need to be indicted and locked up, but on the other hand,  false accusations might be too easily accepted  simply because so many women have been abused.

Coaching gymnastics is like walking on eggshells now.  Every physical contact with a female student is scrutinized and questioned making spotting extremely difficult. Most of the USAG leaders resigned.  Mothers are telling their daughters not to trust anyone, so the slightest accusation is taken so seriously that no male coach can simply relax and be normal around the girls.

Right now, in the USA, any child that makes an accusation of inappropriate behavior opens the door for grand jury indictment. This happened to me 20 years ago in a gym where I coached gymnastics. A gymnast accused me of – I don’t even know what since they never told me – and yet, I never coached her or worked with her at any time since she was not my student. The grand jury threw the case out because there was no evidence at all. Nonetheless to be able to continue coaching I had to spend $1500 to expunge the record. I see this as a potential  consequence of the #MeToo movement.
